Since 1879 the Sioux YMCA has been serving the youth and families of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Reservation. Since 2015, I have proudly been part of this mission. As the only YMCA currently located on a Native American reservation, we strive to ensure that the youth that we serve are offered the same opportunities as others. The funds raised by this campaign enable us to deliver these opportunities.
Each year the Sioux YMCA takes youth on trips all over the country, whether it be a leadership development conference in Seattle, a wilderness canoeing trip in northern Minnesota, or a week at a summer camp on Cape Cod. I have been extremely lucky to be a part of several of these trips, and I can say with absolute certainty that they are truly lifechanging.
By supporting this campaign, you support the development of our youth. You give them the opportunity to explore the world outside of the reservation. You give them the opportunity to take pride in their culture as they share it with those that they meet. You give them the opportunity to development into positive role models, so that they in turn can lead the way for future generations.
Thank you for supporting our mission.
